In 1661, on
the orders of Louis XIV, building started on what became the most
prestigious residence amongst all the courts of Europe. It was designed
by architects and decorators who are still famous today, such as Le
Vau, Mansart and Le Notre, for the gardens. For you to fully appreciate
this excursion, you will be given an overview of the various facets
of court life in the Palace of Versailles during the reign of Louis
XIV, the "Sun King". An audio commentary will make your
unguided visit to the Palace and gardens even more enjoyable.
